Todays clubs are very forgiving and have large hosels and heads to make them playable. However, they can get caught up in the rough with a normal swing. Next time you're faced with a shot from the rough, try taking the club straight back on a steep plane and hitting down and through to the target line with a firm grip. You'll be surprised at how the club cuts the rough and gets the ball airborne without the usual club head snag.

When trying to make a putt from over 25 feet, a normal putting stroke will restrict the forward movement of the shoulders and make for inconsistent distance. Next time you're faced with that length of putt or longer, try setting up to the ball with a slightly open stance (similar to a chip) and then stroke the putt with the face traveling down the target line. After practicing for awhile you'll be more consistent in your distance and feel much better with your stroke.

PLAY TO YOUR STRENGTH - FOR THE HIGH HANDICAP PLAYER:
What most people don't realize is only 5% of golfers break 90.  In order to do so and be at or below 90, play to get on each green in 1 over regulation ie on a par 3 in 2, a par 4 in 3 and a par 5 in 4.... 2 putt and you shoot 90. reality is that you will pull off a few pars and wind up in the mid 80's.  Also don't always "go for it" with your longest club.  Course management can save strokes and improve your game.  Next time your faced with a situation where you have a shot that pushes your limit of the shot, play to a full shot comfort level, divide the distance in half, play 2 good shots and see the improvement.

The next time you're working on specific things with your swing, try hitting the balls from a teed position rather than the ground. It will give you one less thing to think about and make for a more enjoyable practice session and be sure to work on your swing with a 7-5 iron, leave the driver in the bag until you feel comfortable with the swing.
